Duties:  The Emergency Call Taker is the entry-level classification for newly appointed and inexperienced employees in the Emergency Dispatcher classification series. Emergency Dispatch provides twenty-four hours a day, seven-days a week public safety emergency dispatch service, and is the focal point for the 9-1-1 telephone system. Part-time, extra-help Emergency Call Takers work various shifts of 4 to 12 hours a day and a maximum of 29 hours per week. Shifts are days, evenings and nights, and can include working on weekends and holidays. In addition to formalized training, Emergency Call Takers, under direct supervision, learn and practice standardized dispatching procedures, and gain knowledge of the operations of the 9-1-1 emergency telephone system and the computer-aided dispatching system. Individuals in this position will be required to demonstrate their competence through verbal and practical tests and performance evaluations on a weekly basis during their trainee employment. This is necessary due to the high degree of liability the dispatcher can incur both individually and for the County or contract Public Safety Agency. The basic qualification to advance to an Emergency Dispatcher shall be proficiency in the skills of an Emergency Call Taker PLUS one radio position group (Fire, Police, and Sheriff). This position is subject to overtime, standby, and callback assignments.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Graduation from high school, or possession of the high school level General Education Development (GED) Certificate; AND • One (1) year full-time general work experience that involved public contact; AND • Typing certificate, within four years, of 35 wpm (net corrected) from any temporary agency or comparable institution. Duties:  Cramer Fish Sciences is looking for technicians in our Ripon and West Sacramento, California offices to perform a variety of scientific research tasks. We are especially individuals interested in entry-level work associated with fisheries biology, applied ecology, environmental sciences, and/or genetics. Technicians are trained in relevant field and laboratory protocols, assist with data collection and entry, and coordinate with upper level staff as necessary. Technicians assist biologists in conducting field research including juvenile salmonid outmigration monitoring, river restoration effectiveness monitoring, and field experiments. Technicians may operate and repair equipment and conduct routine vehicle and boat maintenance. Long days, weekend, and night shifts are sometimes required due to the unpredictable nature of field work. Technicians will also perform laboratory tasks including processing fish and invertebrate samples and otolith and genetic sample preparation. Qualifications:  Requirements Work safety is the primary responsibility of all employees. First aid and CPR certification is required, but can be acquired after hiring. The candidate must have basic computer aptitude (i.e., database entry, internet search, email), be able to safely lift and carry at least 40 lbs, be able to swim, have a good driving record and habits, and be willing to learn and follow established safety precautions and procedures.
