Duties:  The East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District, a special district dedicated to resource concerns in and around East Stanislaus County, has an immediate opening for a temporary, full-time Resource Conservation Technician to provide assistance with the implementation and reporting of resource conservation projects that the District and/or its partners undertake under contract with various agencies, organizations and individuals. The ideal candidate will have an agricultural background, including experience with or knowledge of mobile farm equipment and tractors. Experience working with soil surveys, soil reports and ArcGIS is extremely helpful. Resource Conservations Technicians must be willing to assist with field work, work professionally and courteously as representatives of ESRCD and NRCS while interacting with private landowners and local, state and federal entities and personnel.
Qualifications:  Basic computer skills are a necessity, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience with grant writing and conservation planning is desired. A college degree is not required, but coursework in related fields is helpful. Candidates must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. A background check is required upon employment. This position is full-time, temporary, May - August. Occasional weekends or evenings may be required with advance notice. As funding allows, the position may continue as part-time after August.
